Hi, my name is Delaney. I am currently a library page at the Washington Public Library, and I have been working here for about a year or so. This has been my first real job as a teenager and I've enjoyed it so much. As an employee I try my best to tend to the desk, while completing my other assignments. You can find me shelving books, reorganizing DVDs, working on projects, and visiting with other staff and regular patrons.
The library is a great fit for me and my personality, as I am more of a quiet and laid-back person. The job gives us pages structure, but more importantly it gives us room to grow and figure out who or what we want to be. The whole staff, from the head librarian to the library assistants, etc., are the most caring and supportive people I've ever met. I am always greeted with a smile at the beginning of my shift, which is an instant mood-booster if I am having a down day. I was always told by my family to find a job that you like, otherwise you will dread each day of it, and so far I haven't dreaded a single day walking through those doors.
We all work hard to create a safe, quiet, learning environment for all of our patrons. The library is a place that I have found to suit and nourish my interests of growth, knowledge, and art. I believe that there is something in this building for each and every individual person. I hope to see you all in here one day so I can share the amazing privileges and opportunities the library has to offer!
