Recently, the library has gotten very busy. Our new No-Contact Curbside service has really taken off! I feel like Amazon, getting phone calls and emails with requests for materials. But we are better because we are personal and free!
I have enjoyed the teamwork involved in creating this service. The strong team mentality of the library staff has made it so the curbside service was up and running, rather smoothly if I say so myself, very quickly. Patrons have been overjoyed to receive their books and DVDs that they've been waiting for. Truly, nothing is as good as when someone picks up their bag of books and gives the bag a hearty bear hug!
I can relate to that feeling. When I have my 'personal shopper” hat on and am going through the stacks to find a patron just the right thing, I come across many books I can't wait to read. The ones I have read have made for good 'reviews” on Facebook. People have responded well with many comments and likes, giving me an excuse to read instead of doing laundry.
One of my favorite things to come from this service is my personal and professional connection to our patrons. It has increased tremendously through the phone calls and emails with requests for materials and just to catch up. I am learning about their lives, what they like and don't like in books and in life. Best of all, I am learning those unique personality traits that make them who they are.
