At the library: Making progress on projects during library’s temporary closure

As someone who always sees the glass half full, I have taken the temporary closing of the library for a time to make progress in my job as Adult Services Librarian. I have been working on the book clubs, researching different types of online programming, general reorganizing, participating in online trainings, and, of course, lots of cleaning.
I had intended on doing an online book club, someday, but the time has now come. It has been a challenge to create a book club to be accessed online. The structure of book clubs is the gathering of people, which is not allowed. So, creating one accessed online must intrigue people enough to join. Hence, Harry Potter! This book club selection is for all ages of parents and children, those who've read Harry Potter and those who haven't. My hope is that people discover the joy of reading WITH their children.
My research of adult programming has uncovered so many ideas it is overwhelming! I am not sure how I will choose between learning to draw botanical prints, a night with Sherlock Holmes, creating vision boards, or a Benjamin Franklin Circle. Maybe I won't choose, just plan for the months to come when we can, once again, gather.
The online trainings have given me so much motivation to learn as much as possible and then apply my new knowledge when we open. So, forgive me if I get a bit excited and have too much to choose from.
The reorganizing and cleaning have been peaceful activities. These tasks feel good, give a sense of order to a crazy world. I am sure many feel the same as I do.
With all that said, I am looking forward to seeing everyone again. Stay safe, be well and see you soon.
