August brings corn, beans, onions to Fairfield Farmers? Market
With a new month comes new varieties of locally grown produce to the Fairfield Farmers? Market.
Some of the produce to look for during August at the market will be corn, beans, cucumbers, onions, beets, squash, tomatoes and melons.
Plus, the selection of jams, plants, baked goods, jewelry and more will continue to delight shoppers, as will the entertainment planned at each Saturday event.

With a new month comes new varieties of locally grown produce to the Fairfield Farmers? Market.
Some of the produce to look for during August at the market will be corn, beans, cucumbers, onions, beets, squash, tomatoes and melons.
Plus, the selection of jams, plants, baked goods, jewelry and more will continue to delight shoppers, as will the entertainment planned at each Saturday event.
Entertainment this Saturday will be Snake Chasers ? seasoned performers with an affinity for rich three-part harmony delivering traditional and alt-country with country-rock and bluegrass in an electric/acoustic setting.
Also this Saturday, Nauvoo on the Road will try to beat the rain and mud to bring hands-on demonstrations on how bricks, candles, bread and cookies were made 150 years ago. The Nauvoo volunteers, wearing 1840-era clothing, also will have old-time games for the public to play.
Entertainment at the Aug. 8 market will be world-renowned Celtic piper Tim Britton. Britton is as deeply rooted in tradition as he is in innovative interpretation.
On Aug. 15, Michael Dugan and Josie Overmyer will entertain. Dugan is a local inde-folk/rock singer songwriter, who writes heartfelt songs with a general theme of self-inquiry, touching upon the meta-physical. Overmyer is another local singer songwriter.
The Fairtown Ramblers will entertain Aug. 22. They play an eclectic mix of folk music, with tunes from Appalachia, New England, Ireland and Eastern Europe. Their repertoire includes touching waltzes to high-energy contra tunes and then some.
Society of Broken Souls will be at the market Aug. 29. Society of Broken Souls is the songwriting duo of multi-instrumentalists who play acoustic arrangements to edgier electric unflinching songs for fearless hearts and for celebrating the beautiful mosaic of the human experience.
The Fairfield Farmers? Market is held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays and 3-6 p.m. Wednesdays at Howard Park.
The outdoor market continues through the end of October.
