The Bairds started farming in the Yarmouth/Morning Sun area and lived on several rented farms for nine years before buying their Fairfield farm 51 years ago. They worked together during planting and harvest seasons and fed many cattle and hogs.
They are retired and both enjoy their hobbies.
Hosting the celebration are their three children: Randy Baird and wife Jan, and Ron Baird and wife Terri, all of Fairfield and Diane Klosterman and husband Ken of Cedar Rapids. They also have five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Starting with Mrs. Baird?s early German ancestors who settled in Burlington, they are the fifth generation down to the present to have celebrated more than 50 years of marriage.
