Community members have the opportunity to recognize women who are doing an outstanding job in their endeavors through the Fairfield Business and Professional Women?s 21st annual Women of Achievement contest.
To nominate a woman who is excellent in her position, an asset to her company, knows how to serve customers and knows what it takes to be professional in her job outlook, fill out a ballot and drop it in a ballot box at a local bank or credit union; or mail it in care of Diane Whitney to 1004 West Burlington Ave., Fairfield.
Ballots are on page 2 of today?s Ledger. Ballots also are available at local financial institutions.
The deadline is April 29.
Adult voters are limited to one ballot each but can nominate as many women, one per category, as they wish. The same person can be nominated for more than one category. Nominees must be 18 years of age or older and do not have to be a member of BPW. Women who won the awards in previous years are not eligible to win in the same category this year.
Letters of recommendation are not necessary; but if there is more information to share about a nominee, letters are welcome. Winners will be named in 11 categories. The nominated names are confidentially tallied and the woman receiving the most votes in each category is deemed the ?outstanding woman of 2011.?
Award recipients will be notified after April 29. Each will receive a certificate with her name and category. Winners will receive the opportunity to attend the May 9 BPW luncheon meeting to network with other women and share stories. The community will have the opportunity to view the awards presentation on FPAC-9 after the meeting. Specific run times will be announced at a later date.
For information, call committee chairwomen Goudy at 472-9457 or Whitney at 472-4550.
