The Douds Historic Preservation Association Inc. is sponsoring an old-fashioned band concert at 6 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Park in Leando.
The concert will feature Van Buren County?s Tarnished Brass Band, under the director of Ken Burns of Bonaparte.
Dedication of the Carol Carr Memorial Gazebo will be held during the concert intermission. The gazebo was built in the fall of 2010 and houses a restored horse-drawn Douds-Leando Consolidated School District school bus, the last known in existence in Van Buren County.
Carr was a past president and secretary-treasurer of the Douds Historical Preservation Association, which owns the restored Valley Country Schoolhouse, gazebo and bus that are all in Memorial Park.
Pie, ice cream and beverages will be served during the concert, with a freewill offering going to the band and the west side parking project in Douds.
In case of rain, the event will be moved to Christ United Methodist Church adjacent to the park.
Those attending are asked to bring their lawn chairs.
