A beginner basketmaking workshop is set from 12:30-6:30 p.m. March 25 at the nature center.
Participants, fifth-graders to adults, must be new to basketmaking. They can choose to make an $8 wicker plant basket or a $12 melon basket and begin work on the three- to four-hour project anytime between 12:30-5 p.m. Those who start later in the day can come back the next afternoon to finish.
A scrap basket workshop is set from 3-7 p.m. March 26 at the nature center.
The class is for experienced basketmakers, who will be working with a variety of scrap pieces of various colors, sizes and lengths to make a small- to medium-sized basket in the allotted time.
The fee is $5.
Preregistration is required for all classes. Call or email Jefferson County Naturalist Therese Cummiskey at 472-4421 or therese@jeffersoncountyconservation.com.
