BATAVIA ? Batavia Days is planned July 12-13, with tournaments, competitions, entertainment and more.
A softball tournament gets under way at 6 p.m. July 12 and runs all weekend. Proceeds from the concession stand at the ball field will be donated to the Ottumwa Hillbilly Shrine Unit. For information about the tournament, call Andy Pearson at 919-2319.

BATAVIA ? Batavia Days is planned July 12-13, with tournaments, competitions, entertainment and more.
A softball tournament gets under way at 6 p.m. July 12 and runs all weekend. Proceeds from the concession stand at the ball field will be donated to the Ottumwa Hillbilly Shrine Unit. For information about the tournament, call Andy Pearson at 919-2319.
Weigh-in for the garden-tractor pull is set for 6 p.m. July 12 at the track behind the Batavia BP Station. The Fairfield Kiwanis Club?s Chuck Wagon will be vending food and beverages.
An 8-ball tournament is set to begin at 7 p.m. July 12 at Still Ned?s Place.
July 13 will begin with breakfast served 6-9 a.m. at the Batavia Masonic Lodge. The public is welcome, and a freewill offering will be collected.
A vendor fair and craft show will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. For information about setting up a table, call Tycene Weber at 919-4442.
The parade down Main Street will start at 10 a.m. Russell and Elaine Gottman will be the grand marshals.
Immediately after the parade, the Batavia Fire Department will serve its annual brat-pork sandwiches, the Batavia Lions Club pedal-tractor pull for kids will get under way in the pavilion, and the Batavia Library will open for an open house and used book sale.
Weigh-in for the Batavia Days Farm Stock Tractor Pull is at 11:30 a.m., with the pull starting at noon at the track behind the Batavia BP Station.
The farm stock classes for the tractor pull include: 4,000, 4,500, 5,000, 5,500, 6,500 and 9,000. Turbo and non-turbo farm stock classes include: 10,000, 11,000 and 12,000. The turbo farm stock class includes: 13,000.
The sled will be operated by Jeff White.

Also at noon, a baby contest will be in the Batavia Community Senior Center, and both the decorated potato contest and the ugly cake contest judging will be in the community center.
Kids? games also are planned, and a demonstration by the Fairfield Police Department?s K9 Unit is set for 1:30 p.m.
The Batavia Days Committee will host a taco bar from 4:30-7 p.m. in the community center, and the Batavia TTT will host an ice cream social from 4:30-7 p.m. in the pavilion.
Local entertainers will perform at 5 p.m. in the pavilion, followed by a DJ and dance from 7-11 p.m.
