Bentonsport Heritage Day planned Saturday

Enjoy the vitality of historic Bentonsport and help celebrate Heritage Day, Saturday, Aug. 31. Savor a historic meal, tour historic places, and watch artisans at work.
The festivities run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with lunch served at the Shelter House from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for a free will offering. Pianist Mindy Kralicek will play Americana tunes and spirituals during the meal. Fiddler Tom Shadonix will play from 1-3 p.m. in front of the Greef General Store.
Tour the Vernon Schoolhouse and the Iowa Odd Fellows Museum from 1-4 p.m. Herb Shafer will conduct a walking tour of the village at 2 p.m. and share stories about the early habitants of the village. The Mason House Inn will be open for tours from 1-3 p.m. The Indian Artifact Museum and the historic Bentonsport Presbyterian Church will be open all day.
Visit with Bentonsport potters, blacksmiths, weavers, quilters and woodworkers. Demonstrations will run from 2-4 p.m.
Bentonsport shops will be open.
