The descendants of Vaclav and Marie Beranek held a first-time-ever family reunion on Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, at the VFW Club in Riverside.
The noon luncheon was catered by Mrs. Vicki Mincer. Guests brought additional tasty food dishes including Bohemia breads, kolaches and sauerkraut for the 1 p.m. meal.
Video family pictures were shown on a screen during the afternoon. John Wilson, a great-great-grandson, had been working on genealogy and had been getting facts and history, pictures and stories together for this special event. He introduced himself and his family. Then each guest told interesting stories of his or her life.
Later, the 65 attendees advanced outdoors to have a group picture taken. They were from California, Colorado, Montana, Illinois, Missouri and Iowa. They brought pictures, scrapbooks and memorabilia to share, which made it an interesting day.
The group expressed thanks to Mary and John Wilcox of Fort Dodge, who organized the event, and all their family, relatives and friends who helped make it a day to remember.
