Bioenergy Field Tour to be held

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will host a bioenergy field tour on Monday, Sept. 21, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the ISU southeast research and demonstration farm in Crawfordsville.
The event is open to the public and includes a free meal, short program and tour. The tour includes: miscanthus establishment and weed control management, switchgrass production and response to nitrogen fertilization, bioenergy economic evaluation tool and using perennial grasses for bioenergy production and bioproduct markets.
Featured speakers include: Emily Heaton, who is a professor of agronomy and extension biomass crop specialist at Iowa State University; and Greg Brenneman, agricultural and bio systems engineering specialist with ISU Extension and Outreach.
To get to the research farm go 1 3/4 miles south of Crawfordsville on U.S. Highway 218, turn east on County Road G62 and take three-fourths mile north and watch for signs.
