Birmingham Homecoming this weekend

BIRMINGHAM -- The annual Birmingham Homecoming kicks off Friday evening and continues through Sunday with a parade, car and tractor shows, a baking contest and a tractor pull.
The celebration begins with a tenderloin supper at 5 p.m. Friday, followed by bingo at 6 p.m.
Saturday begins at 7 a.m. with a biscuit and gravy breakfast served by the Birmingham Lions Club.
Registration for the free car show is from 8-11 a.m. in City Park. Voting is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the trophy presentation at 2 p.m. For information, call Kelly Spees at 919-7924.
The prince and princess contest is set for 8:30 a.m. in the City Park gazebo.
From 9-11 a.m., children ages 12 and younger can sign up to win a bicycle. The drawing will be at 3 p.m.
Registration for the free tractor show is 9-11 a.m. Ferguson tractors will be featured, but all tractors are welcome. The Ferguson Enthusiasts Regional Gathering is set for 1 p.m.
The parade line up is at 10 a.m. at city hall. Entries in the car and tractor shows can participate. The parade is at 11 a.m., with a route by City Park.
Sign in for the free baking contest is 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Log Cabin in City Park. Adults can enter pies, cakes, breads, rolls and cookies. Children 12 and younger can enter cookies and bars. Judging will be at 12:30 p.m., and prizes will be awarded. All entries will be auctioned at 1:15 p.m., with proceeds going to help finance Homecoming activities.
The Birmingham Methodist Church will serve lunch at noon, with hot dogs, brats, pulled-pork sandwiches, potato, desserts and drinks.
Activities also will include kids' games, with a barrel train, bounce house and more, from noon to 4 p.m. The firemen's water sports for kids will be at 1 p.m. Sign in for the kids' pedal tractor pull is at 3 p.m., with the pull at 3:30 p.m. An AirEvac helicopter, if scheduling allows, will be on display at 4 p.m.
The firemen's hot roast beef supper, with mashed potatoes, applesauce, bread and butter and drink, will be served 5-7 p.m.
An ice cream and pie social begins at 5:30 p.m., and The Tarnished Brass Band will play from 5-6 p.m.
Sunday begins with a breakfast buffet served by the Birmingham Lions from 7-9 a.m. Church services will be hosted by Birmingham Presbyterian Church at 10 a.m. in the City Park shelter house.
Weigh-in for the tractor pull is at 10 a.m., with the pull beginning at 11 a.m. on the west side of Highway 34. Classes are planned for antique, classic and out-of-field farm tractors. Laplander rules will be followed.
