Blood center schedules three drives in Fairfield
The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center has scheduled three blood drives in Fairfield.
The first is set for 2-7 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds Activity Building. Donors who last gave blood on or before Nov. 22 are eligible to donate again. To make an appointment, call 800-452-1097.

The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center has scheduled three blood drives in Fairfield.
The first is set for 2-7 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds Activity Building. Donors who last gave blood on or before Nov. 22 are eligible to donate again. To make an appointment, call 800-452-1097.
The second is set for 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Jan. 18 at First National Bank in Fairfield, downstairs in the community room. Donors who last gave blood on or before Nov. 23 are eligible to participate. To schedule an appointment, call Laura McCormick at 472-3161.
The third is scheduled for 2:30-6:30 p.m. Jan. 26 at First United Methodist Church. Donors who last gave on or before Dec. 1 are eligible to give blood again. To set up an appointment, call 800-452-1097.
According to the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center, blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that only takes about an hour. Donors must be at least 16 years old, in good health and weigh at least 110 pounds. Donors younger than 16 are required to present a signed parental consent form, which are available from blood center offices or the website at www.bloodcenter.org. A blood donor card or other photo identification is required to donate. People with controlled high blood pressure and diabetics are eligible to give blood.
Blood can be given every eight weeks.
