Blood drive set Oct. 19

The Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center has scheduled a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at the Jefferson County Health Center conference room.

Donors who last gave blood on or before Aug. 14 are eligible to donate again. Donors must be at least 16 years old, in good health and weigh at least 110 pounds.

A blood donor card or other photo identification is required to donate. Sixteen-year-old donors must have a signed parental consent form each time they donate. Forms are available at www.bloodcenter.org.

Walk-in donors are welcome, but those who prefer a set time can call 800-452-1097 for an appointment.

According to the blood center, blood donation is a safe, simple procedure that takes about an hour.
