BOB JONES UNIVERSITY

GREENVILLE, S.C. ? Fairfield resident Rebecca Bartle was among the more than 800 students who graduated from Bob Jones University earlier this month.

Bartle graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in dramatic production.

IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY

AMES ? Derek Robison of Richland has received the Dean?s Recognition Award from the Iowa State University College of Human Sciences.

Robison graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor?s degree in elementary education, a minor in learning technologies, and endorsements in mathematics and reading.

Robison has worked to expand human potential, the motto of the College of Human Sciences, through his efforts at the university and his many philanthropic involvements.

He is the founding president of the Iowa State University Education Association, an organization for all future teachers, and under his leadership the organization has grown substantially.

Robison also has given more than 200 hours to community service events, including organizing toy drives and volunteering lawn care and shoveling services.

After graduation, he plans to teach elementary school in Iowa.

Robison was recognized for his achievements at the college?s graduation celebration Friday at C.Y. Stephens Auditorium on the Iowa State University campus.

CENTRAL COLLEGE

PELLA ? Morgan Remick of Hillsboro presented a senior honors thesis April 25 at Central College in Pella.

The title of the thesis was: ?The Effects of a Fall Prevention Program on Physical and Social Functioning of Older Adults.?

A senior thesis is a yearlong, specialized, independent study course carried out within the student?s major discipline. Remick, a exercise science major, was awarded an honors designation on her final transcript.

CULVER-STOCKTON COLLEGE

CANTON, Mo. ? Culver-Stockton College held its annual All-Sports Awards banquet May 8 to celebrate the academic and athletic achievements of the Wildcat athletic department during the 2012-13 season.

The men?s track and field freshman thrower Marshall Stevens of Hillsboro was named the PAW Award winner.

The PAW Award goes to one player from each athletic team and the student athletic training staff. The acronym PAW stands for passion, attitude and work ethic.

EASTERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY

CHARLESTON, Ill. ? Jeremy Hostetler, a former resident of Fairfield and currently of Charlestown, Ill., graduated from Eastern Illinois University May 4. Hostetler received bachelor degrees in political science and philosophy, with minors in religious studies and medieval studies.

He will be attending the University of Missouri in the fall to pursue his doctoral education in Biblical and Near Eastern studies.
