JEFFERSON COUNTY FARM BUREAU WOMEN

Thirteen members were present for the meeting of the Farm Bureau Women Tuesday.

Roll call was centered on facts about India?s climate and population.

Julie Fiske, executive director of the Growing Hope Foundation, gave the program. The nonprofit foundation provides land management services, which in turn donates part of its management fees to nonprofit organizations that are doing humanitarian work throughout the world.

After the program, the business meeting was called to order by interim president Phyllis Harris. The group decided to form a committee to call a reminder to members before meetings. Wilma Lewis Whitham and Christine Schiedel agreed to serve as the committee. Harris reminded the group the vice president position is still open. Jeanine Peiffer will be asked if she will serve in the capacity.

In other business, Harris reminded the group Oct. 27 will be the annual Trunk-or-Treat event at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. Volunteers will be needed. A volunteer also is needed to attend Farm Bureau board meetings, if Harris cannot attend.

Forms are available for the Iowa Farm Bureau Foundation scholarship at the Farm Bureau office. Information also is available at chuff@ifbf.org. Students are urged to consider applying for the scholarship.

The meeting was adjourned. Next month?s meeting date is Oct. 1, with place to be announced at a later date.
