MOUNT PLEASANT ? Boot Camp for New Dads is planned from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday in the lower-level meeting room of the Henry County ISU Extension Office in Mount Pleasant.
Boot Camp for New Dads, sponsored by Healthy Henry County Communities, is a community education program designed to enable new fathers to ?hit the ground crawling? when their baby arrives and head in the right direction in forming a new family with mom. The program uses a man-to-man training approach and prepares men to be dads in all aspects, beginning with holding and comforting a real baby. Veteran dads demonstrate burping, changing and swaddling. They deal with a broad range of issues including bonding, work hours, forming a parenting team, safety, preventing child abuse, dealing with relatives and support new moms need from dads.
The program is not limited to Henry County residents.
The boot camp will be held every two to three months.
Call 319-931-0067 or email sgardner@iastate.edu for details or to register. Space is limited.
