Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts participate in food drive
Mar. 14, 2022 2:26 pm
Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts in Henry and Van Buren counties, as well as several other counties in the region, are participating in a non-perishable food drive.
On March 12, nearly 1,700 Scouts and Cub Scouts went door-to-door to deliver Scouting for Food bags throughout their neighborhoods. Scouts will then return on March 19 to collect the donated non-perishable food items left outside. All food remains in the area in which it is collected.
The Scouts are asking for the community’s assistance in collecting food items to be donated to local food pantries/banks in the Tri-State Area.
Types of food needed: Non-perishable items only, preferably canned goods. (Examples: canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned meats, rice, beans, - nothing frozen or in glass containers)
The Mississippi Valley Council operates in 13 counties in the Illinois, Iowa, Missouri Tristate Area, serves 2,500 youth, and is a United Way Partnering agency. The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetime by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
