Bridge closure will impede travel from Brighton to Washington
Two bridge replacements on Highway 1 will close the highway between Brighton and Washington, Iowa, during construction for an estimated two years, anticipated to start in 2016.
A deadline for public input about the projects is Monday. Public comments can be made online at www.iowadot.gov.pim or call 515-239-1251.

A deadline for public input about the projects is Monday. Public comments can be made online at www.iowadot.gov.pim or call 515-239-1251.
A note at the website says all correspondence received after Monday?s deadline will be included in the project?s files and reviewed as the project develops.
A designated detour would use Iowa 92, Washington County roads W-55 and W-47 and Iowa 78, adding five miles to the drive.
One of the bridges crosses Skunk River, the other is over West Fork Crooked Creek.
