The Brighton Area Ministerial Alliance (BAMA) sponsored a collaborative effort of five area churches (Brighton Community Church, Sts. Joseph & Cabrini, Church of God, Hope Lutheran, and Victory Fellowship) to provide holiday meals to 43 local families on Saturday December 17th.
This effort was a continuation of annual Christmas food-box deliveries previously hosted by the Brighton Lions Club and BAMA Churches. Funds for this year’s coalition were donated by The Lions and participating churches with some foods being provided by HACAP Food Reservoir of Hiawatha. The Walmart store of Washington, Iowa also donated $75.00.
Each participating church distributed shopping vouchers this year instead of boxes. Recipients were scheduled to come to the Food Pantry at Brighton Community Church to select their own holiday meal fixings throughout the day. Some food boxes were still delivered to shut-ins.
Guests could also shop for additional food supplies or winter clothing and quilts as well as stuffed animals for children that were hand-sewn by Pepper Smith. Shoppers were also invited to join in prayer and to attend Christmas services at a church of their choice.
The Brighton Area Ministerial Alliance wishes to thank everyone for making this such a successful and joyful event in 2022 in the spirit of Jesus Christ!
