The Brighton Bear Cub Club gathered Wednesday after school for a fun mix of science experiments. The main objective of the day was learn about parachutes and how their designs affect the drop time.
The youth worked in partners first to use their senses with mystery bags filled with engineered products. They shared how each item solved a problem and listed why an engineer would have made that item. They then worked in teams to design a parachute varying the canopy size or the canopy material. Each group?s date reported that the paper parachute canopy was most successful.
Brighton Bear Cub Club is delivered by Washington County Extension and Outreach and sponsored by Brighton Horizons. The Bear Cubs will meet next on March 12 at Brighton City Hall . For more information contact the Washington County Extension Office at 319-653-4811.
