The Brighton Bear Cub Club gathered Wednesday after school for a fun mix of plant science and nutrition lessons. The main objective of the day was to enjoy the start to spring by learning about tulips. Youth practiced identifying tulip starts while on a spring life scavenger hunt down Main Street in Brighton.
The youth saw pictures of other plants that grew from bulbs and dissected a tulip plant. The group was able to see the intricate root system of the bulbs when they replanted a tulip bulb/start to take home.
Brighton Bear Cub Club is offered by Washington County Extension and Outreach and sponsored by Brighton Horizons. The Bear Cubs will meet next on April 23 at Brighton City Hall.
