As the garden growing season comes to an end, nearly 30 Brighton area residents came together to celebrate the first year of the Brighton Community Garden. Soup and relishes were served using as much of the produce from the garden as was possible.
Certificates of appreciation were given to Louis Frakes for her time and effort in organizing the garden and Shirley Schooley for the many hours she spent planting, weeding, mulching, and distributing produce. Lee and Karen Schafer also were recognized for donating the garden space.
Tomatoes and watermelon are still ripening and Brighton residents are welcome to the produce. Brighton Horizons will be looking for volunteers and ways to expand the Community Garden for next year.
