Brighton Lions Club gives awards

The Brighton Lions Club held its monthly meeting Thursday, March 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Brighton Community building. Eight members attended. Projects were discussed including the annual soup supper held Friday evening, February 10.
Brighton Lions served oyster, chili, potato and vegetable beef soup to about 100 people. Plans are to have an Irish fish fry on Friday, March 17 from 4:30-7 p.m.
Brighton Whoopee Days on Friday and Saturday, June 16-17 will bring the annual Lions pancake breakfast Saturday morning from 7-9 a.m. followed by the parade and lots of fun rides for the children this year.
A new project the Brighton Lions will be co-sponsoring this year will be, the Lake Darling Jimmy Dick Memorial fishing tournament and children’s rodeo at Lake Darling May 20 from 7 a.m. to noon, sponsored by Friends of Lake Darling. More information will be announced later.
Kathi Keller gave a report on the food bank the Brighton Lions help to support in Brighton. Wayne Gould and Jim Miller, charter members of the Brighton Lions Club, were presented a Milestone Chevron Award for 45 years service to the Brighton Community by President Abe Miller.
Past president Dianne Foxworthy received an award for her three years of dedicated service to the Brighton Community as president of the Brighton Lions Club.
Our next meeting will be Thursday, April 14 at the Brighton Community Center. The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
