We are thankful for the Leroy Mineart family this Thanksgiving! Lake Darling Lodge was a great place to gather eighty some family together. What a joy it was to celebrate with brothers and sisters, Ed Mineart of Muscatine, Rosemary Pacha of Brighton, Chris Turnipseed of Moline, Ill., nieces and nephews and spouses, great nieces and nephews and friends from Iowa, Kansas and Indiana. A Thanksgiving meal was served at noon and then eating left overs and snacking into the evening.
In the afternoon Christmas gifts were exchanged and hen a mini wedding shower was held for nephew Todd Mineart and his bride to be Sota Kong of Indianapolis who will be married in Jamaica Dec. 15. The tables were decorated for fall and a Christmas tree with lots of presents was next to the fireplace.
Outside cornshocks and pumpkins decorated the entrance. There was card playing for the adults, crafts and games for the kids and of course lots of visiting and pictures. There was time in the afternoon to play a little ball outside, go hiking and fly kites. Several of the family had stayed in the cabins.
On Wednesday night family members who had arrived gathered at Pizza Ranch in Fairfield and then on Friday everyone met at the Riverside III restaurant for breakfast before taking off to stop the day away.
Friday evening family met at the home of Rosemary Pacha for chili and of course more food. To say the least, everyone had a wonderful time. There was lots of fun.
