Chapter AQ, P.E.O. met June 2 at the home of Dorothy Miller. Fourteen members were present. Joyce Wilson, president, presided over the meeting. She gave the report on the state convention. The convention was held May 29-31 at the Marriott Hotel in Des Moines. Joyce Wilson was their delegate at the convention, and Marcella Loeffler was a guard. Chapter AQ Sisters attending the convention included Shirley Schooley, Phyllis Scheeler, Joyce Dunbar and Ginny Brinton. Their next meeting will be held June 16 at the home of Liz Gegner.
Lucy Dietzman with Brenden and Malcolm of Keosauqua provided the noon meal of June 3 for her mother, Winifred Fritz. They spent the day with her before leaving for a ballgame.
Winifred Fritz attended the bridal shower for her grandson and fiancée, J.D. Hollingsworth of Packwood and Becky Ritland of Fairfield. The shower was held on May 30 at the First Baptist Church in Fairfield.
Providing the evening meal of May 31 at the home of Winifred Fritz were her children, Jane and Virgil Symmonds of Fairfield, Mary and Joel Boatright of Fairfield, and Tony Fritz of Brighton with friend Lynn of North Liberty. Also present were Mary?s children, J.D. Hollingsworth of Packwood, and Bridget Hollingsworth of Fairfield.
Geri and Mel Scheller of Kansas celebrated 50 years of marriage, Sunday, May 31, at St. Joseph and Cabrini Church in East Pleasant Plain. Mrs. Scheller is Gerald Pacha?s twin sister.
During the church service, they renewed their wedding vows. A family dinner and reception was held at Lake Darling Lodge for their brothers and sisters and families, as well as friends and neighbors.
Gerald and Rosemary Pacha hosted a wiener roast on the pond at their farm on Saturday for Mel and Geri and their children and grandchildren, all of whom live in Kansas City and Emporia, Kan. The Pacha farm is a Century Farm, where Gerald and Geri grew up, and the children wanted to come back to the ?home place.? Everyone had fun touring and hearing stories of growing up on the farm. Lots of pictures were taken.
