The Krony Krew Club met May 25 at the home of Dorothy Miller in Brighton. Bridge was played at two tables. Guests were Elaine Watson of Richland and Larry Robison of Brighton. Their next meting will be held June 8 at the home of Shirley Schooley.
Lonna Blodgett left for San Tan Valley, Arizona, on May 13, and returned home on May 19. During her stay, she visited her daughter Letty (Nash) and Chad Pickering, Hagan, Faith and Connor. The high points of her trip were taking the grandchildren to an amusement park, and playing outside when it wasn?t too hot. Hagan is now 7, and Faith and Connor turned 2 in March.
Winifred Fritz was visited by her daughter-in-law Lynn on May 21.
On May 22, Mary and Joel Boatright with Bridget Hollingsworth of Fairfield visited her mother, Winifred Fritz.
On May 17, Bridget Hollingsworth of Fairfield celebrated her birthday with homemade pizza, cake and ice cream. The party was held at the home of her grandmother, Winifred Fritz. Also present were Bridget?s brother, J.D. and Becky of Packwood; their mother, Mary and Joel Boatright of Fairfield; and their aunt and uncle, Lucy and Matt Dietzman with Brenden and Malcolm of Keosauqua.
Over $4,000 was collected at the benefit for Jackie Kneer, held May 21 at The CaMander?s in Brighton. The fundraiser consisted of a dinner and bake sale.
Rosemary and Gerald Pacha entertained their grandchildren, Aurora and Ames, on their farm this past week while the children?s mother, Jennifer Phillips, attended a nursing conference and was a presenter in New Orleans, Louisiana. They took Aurora and Ames back to their home in Johnston after church services and breakfast.
Amy (Adrian) Green and Mike Adrian surprised their mother, Nancy Adrian, with a 60th birthday party at Pizza Ranch in Washington on Sunday evening, May 22. Many friends, co-workers, classmates and family members had fun being in on the surprise. After eating, the group formed teams and played Jeopardy with questions about Nancy. The Jeopardy categories were: Brighton Business, Honors, Quirks About Nancy, Blast from the Past, and Farming. Gifts, cards, and birthday cake finished a fun-filled evening that Nancy won?t soon forget.
The Brighton Chamber met Thursday, May 12, and again Tuesday, May 24, at the Federation Bank of Brighton meeting rooms to finish plans for their annual Whoopee Days celebration, which is the third weekend ? Thursday, June 16, Friday, June 17, and Saturday, June 18, ending with a communal church service on Sunday morning, June 19. Be sure to watch for the full schedule, which will be coming out early in June. As always, there will be lots of fun entertainment, a carnival, a parade, the Mud Run, a tractor ride, street dances, concessions, etc.
