Chapter AQ, P.E.O., met May 3 at the home of Marcella Loeffler. Jan Eddy was her co-hostess. Nineteen members and one guest, Millie Robinson of Newberg, Oregon, were present. President Joyce Wilson conducted the meeting. The program was ?Important Dates in May.? The next meeting will be held May 17 at the home of Cathy Rich. Rose Jaynes will be her co-hostess.
On Sunday, May 1, St. Joseph and Cabrini Church celebrated First Communion and Mother?s Day with a May breakfast. Family Life Committee served. Altar and Rosary sold hanging flower baskets and plants for Mother?s Day at the same time.
Members of St. Joseph and Cabrini enjoyed Farm Fun Barn Tours, Sunday, April 10, and Sunday, April 17. The first Sunday afternoon tour was to Hal Colliver?s barn near West Chester to see his magnificent collection. He has quite a collection of signs, gas pumps, cars and old machinery. From there, the group traveled to Keota to David and Patty Hammen?s barn. The Hammens restored their barn for family gatherings and added a restored stained glass window from the former Harper Catholic Church. The Hammens shared fun family stories about furnishings in the barn. Next, the group traveled to the Wooden Wheel Winery, where they were given a tour. Larry Robison and the owner were classmates in high school.
The second Sunday afternoon tour was to David and Laurie Bennett?s barn near Richland. Theirs is a beautiful new barn set near a farm pond. After touring the Bennetts? barn, the group traveled to Rubio to Phil and Rene Laux?s restored family barn. Both barns were decorated, and the families had great stories to tell the group. Everyone agreed that both Sundays were farm fun days.
