The Red Flag Horseless Carriage Tour was a huge success in Brighton on Saturday, Sept. 26. Fifteen vintage cars were on display, with many drivers and passengers in vintage clothing. The Brighton Lions Club served lunch of Windsor chops or Brighton-Rite meals to drivers and viewers who were interested. Also, displays of ?Tea at the White House,? local artists, crafts, and Lake Darling were enjoyed by many.
Pastor Rick and Heather Zickefoose hosted a lawn party, Sunday, Sept. 27, at 5 p.m. Approximately 40 were in attendance and enjoyed a wiener roast, volleyball, croquet, bean bag toss and bubble blowing. A good time was had by all.
Mary and Joel Boatright with Bridget Hollingsworth of Fairfield provided the evening meal of Sept. 26 at the home of her mother, Winifred Fritz. They were joined by Winifred?s son Tony and Lynn Fritz of Brighton.
Rita Berry of Missouri made a surprise visit to her mother, Winifred Fritz, on Sept. 29. They were joined by Joel Boatright, who had come to put up a bird feeder stand. Rita spent the night of Sept. 28 with her niece, Bridget Hollingsworth in Fairfield. The evening of Sept. 29, Rita accompanied her brother Joe of Brighton to Fort Madison. They attended a volleyball game where Julia, Joe?s daughter, played.
Caryl Smith had eight houseguests from Sept. 24 through noon on Sept. 27. They included son, grandson, and great-grandson, Carl and Beth Smith of Fort Collins, Colorado, Carey of Fosston, Minnesota, and Cameron of Fargo, North Dakota, and the four friends from Wisconsin who come every December to deer hunt. Carl and Beth attended the activities for his 50th Class Reunion in Fairfield that weekend.
Everyone, including her son Nelson of Brighton, worked to put a new roof on Caryl?s house. They got it finished Sunday morning.
