Caryl Smith with son Nelson and Jacklyn hosted a Thanksgiving celebration dinner on Nov. 20. Bob Kiefer of rural Brighton grilled pork loins and chicken breasts. It was held at the Lake Darling Lodge, with 99 guests attending. They arrived from Brighton, Burlington, Des Moines, East Pleasant Plain, Richland, Rubio, Washington, Chicago, Illinois, and Florida. They also honored Cecil Chuck for her 100th birthday, which is on Nov. 24.
Providing the evening meal of Nov. 20 at the home of Winifred Fritz were her daughters and grandchildren. They included Jane and Virgil Symmonds and Mary and Joel Boatright, all of Fairfield, and Mary?s children, J.D. and Becky Hollingsworth of Packwood and Bridget Hollingsworth of Fairfield. Winifred received a telephone call from her daughter Lucy Dietzman of Keosauqua on Nov. 19.
The Pacha brothers and sisters and their spouses enjoyed a weekend trip together to Branson, Missouri, with the H.U.G.S. group, Nov. 10-14. While there, they took in several shows and a tour of The Top of the Rock museum and golf resort owned by Bass Pro. Those on the trip were: Don and Edna Sieren of Keota; Maurice and Katherine Pacha of Washington; Merle and MaryAnn Pacha of Washington; Gerald and Rosemary Pacha of Brighton; and Mel and Geri Scheller of Emporia, Kansas.
