Brighton?s Healthiest State walk started at the whistle at beautiful Lake Darling, on Oct. 7, at noon. Several people ages 2 to 90 enjoyed the beautiful day and walked the new concrete trail. Brighton?s Healthiest State walk started at the whistle at beautiful Lake Darling, on Oct. 7, at noon. Several people ages 2 to 90 enjoyed the beautiful day and walked the new concrete trail. Pastor Rick Zickefoose of the Brighton United Church gave a Healthiest Walk prayer at the start of the walk. Thanks to all who participated and for the beautiful day. What a blessing it is to have a state park in the community.
More than 200 people attended the Windsor chop supper. It was sponsored by the United Church of Brighton on Oct. 3.
Chapter AQ, P.E.O., met at the home of Cathy Rich at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 6. Sixteen members answered roll call, and the meeting was called to order by president Joyce Wilson. The chaplain, Phyllis Scheeler, read from Ephesians 3:16-19. Correspondence secretary Joyce Dunbar read a thank-you note from the group?s Star Scholarship recipient, and an invitation to a style show and tea from Chapter H in Albia.
The meeting was closed in due form by President Wilson, and the program was given by the chairman of the Iowa and International Projects. Refreshments were served by Cathy Rich and Marcella Loeffler. Their next meeting will be held Oct. 20 at the home of Karen Schafer.
The Stitch and Bitch Knitting Club met on Oct. 7 at the home of Caryl Smith. Four members from Washington, Brighton and New London enjoyed Caryl?s luncheon.
The Krony Krew Bridge Club met on Oct. 14 at the home of Kathryn Dickinson. Elaine Watson of Richland was a guest. Their next meeting will be on Oct. 28 at the home of Dorothy Miller.
Winifred Fritz was visited by her granddaughter Bridget Hollingsworth of Fairfield on the evening of Oct. 11. They were joined by Winifred?s son Tony and Lynn Fritz.
Winifred Fritz received a telephone call from a cousin, Jim Arndt of St. George, Utah, on Oct. 8.
Pat Remington attended the seventh- and eight-grade football game in Mount Pleasant on Oct. 13. Her grandson Christopher Garmoe is a player. Angela and Tony Garmoe with James and Christopher dined at Tasos Steakhouse in Mount Pleasant.
