Visiting Winifred Fritz on June 9 were her daughters, Jane and Virgil Symmonds, and Mary Boatright, all of Fairfield. They were joined by Mary's children, Bridget Hollingsworth, of Fairfield, and J.D. and Becky Hollingsworth with Noah, of Packwood. They enjoyed the evening meal, which included fresh strawberries with homemade ice cream.
Rosemary Pacha, of Brighton, along with her sisters-in-law, Edna Sieren of Keota, and Joanna Peterson of Newton, traveled to Emporia, Kansas, to visit Gerald Pacha's twin sister, Geri Scheller. They visited there on June 5-6.
P.E.O. Chapter AQ of Brighton met at the home of Rose Jaynes on Tuesday evening, June 11. Arlene Fritz served as her co-hostess. Nine members were present. President Rose Jaynes served as delegate from their chapter at the Iowa State Convention, held June 8-9. She reported on sessions she attended on Saturday and Sunday. Her husband, Steve Jaynes, accompanied her to the convention. Seven other members from the chapter attended the Saturday meetings and the lunch. They were Ruth Ann Stacy, Marcella Loeffler, Joyce Wilson, Cathy Rich, Shirley Schooley, Rosemary Pacha, and Sarah Robison. Everyone felt that the sessions and speakers were very inspiring.
Fifteen people from Brighton, Fairfield, Wayland and Mt. Pleasant attended a Celebrate Recovery meeting Thursday, June 13, at the Brighton Church of God. The evening included dinner, praise and worship music, optional small group sharing and a testimonial from someone with a 'love addiction” (turning to perfectionism to prove and earn love from anyone who would give her attention).
The next weekly meeting, open to anyone with any hurt, habit or hangup, will be held Thursday, June 27, at the Brighton Church of God beginning at 6 p.m. with a free meal.
