Twenty-eight relatives gathered at the home of Winifred Fritz for Easter dinner. They included her children and their families: Joe and Lori Fritz with Sophia and Julia, of Brighton, and Michael, of Ames; Lucy and Matt Dietzman with Brenden and Malcolm, of Keosauqua; Tony and Lynn Fritz, of Brighton; Mary and Joel Boatright with Bridget Hollingsworth, of Fairfield, and J.D. and Becky Hollingsworth, of Packwood; and Jane and Virgil Symmonds with Jess and Nathan, of Fairfield, Dawn and Josh Goltfelty with Aspen and Tytus, of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Rachael Germany with Oliver and Coraline of Nevada, Iowa. They were also joined by Debi Fritz, of Sigourney.
Winifred Fritz received happy Easter wishes by phone by her brother Herb Moeller of Wever, and her daughter Rita Berry of Bates City, Missouri.
Nelson and Jacklyn Smith, with their mothers Caryl Smith, of Brighton, and Judith Johnson and friend, of Fairfield, spent Easter at the home of Caryl's cousin Jim and Jane Springs in Burlington. Twenty-four relatives and friends were present including Jacklyn's friend Kim Schier, of Iowa City.
An Easter celebration was held at the home of Jaime Roberts in Wayland. Her friend Fred was also present. The foreign exchange student from Italy prepared an Italian buffet. They were joined by Jaime's brother Jason Roberts and their parents, Jerry and Debbi Roberts, all of Brighton.
Easter was celebrated at the home of Bob and Robin Schulty in Wellman. Robin, with the help of their daughter Felicia, hosted the family dinner. Those present included the Schultys' son Spencer with fiancée, Shiloh, of Wellman; Robin's sister Roberta and Ryan Sieren with Wyatt and Abbie and Cody Kuntz of Keota. They were joined by their father, Bob Shelangoski, of Brighton.
Sister Janet Kreber, of Sioux City, spent the night of April 22 at the home of Winifred Fritz in Brighton. They attended Gerald Pacha's funeral visitation on April 22. Sister Janet also attended the funeral on April 23. She went to Fairfield to visit some friends, returning to Winifred's home to spend the night of April 23. She left April 24 to attend a funeral in Dubuque.
Chapter AQ, P.E.O., met April 23 at the home of Marcella Loeffler with Karen Schafer as co-hostess. President Rose Jaynes opened the meeting in due form. Ten members were present. Following the business meeting, Marcella gave the program 'Sister Secrets.” Everyone had written something about themselves, unknown to other sisters. Each sister read a statement and others tried to guess who it was. A fun time was had by all. The hostesses served refreshments at the close of the meeting. The club's next meeting will be held at the home of Cathy Rich. Judy Bloom will serve as co-hostess on May 14.
The Krony Krew Club met on April 24, at the home of Rose Jaynes. Bridge was played at one table. Sarah Robison will host the May 8 meeting at her home.
Approximately 20 people (from Brighton, Washington, Fairfield, Mt. Pleasant and other places in southeast Iowa) attended a Celebrate Recovery meeting April 25 at the Brighton Church of God. The evening included praise and worship music, optional small group sharing and additional guidance on conducting a ‘Spiritual Inventory” -- looking at Your Mind, Your Body, Your Family and Your Church as people turn to help from God to overcome their hurts, habits and hangups. Friends from Des Moines also helped the group celebrate a recovery success milestone, presenting an attendee with a 3-year sobriety 'chip,” The next weekly meeting, open to anyone with a hurt, habit or hangup, will be held Thursday, May 9 beginning at 6 p.m., with a free meal.
