On the evening of April 4, approximately 20 people from Brighton, Washington, Fairfield, Wayland and Mt. Pleasant gathered at Brighton Church of God for an evening of Praise and Worship music with their Celebrate Recovery family. The following week, on April 11, a dozen individuls attended the meeting. The evening included praise and worship music, optional small-group sharing and a lesson on the importance of looking at our lives, particularly our relationships with others, our life priorities, our attitudes, and our integrity, as we work to overcome our hurts, habits and hangups with God's help.
On April 18, about 15 people attended a Celebrate Recovery meeting at the Brighton Church of God. The evening included praise and worship music, optional small-group sharing and the testimony of John, whose experience with his parents' divorce, serious codependency and food issues in his childhood, left him feeling like he could relate to the despair of the biblical Jonah. The next weekly meeting, open to anyone with a hurt, habit or hangup, will be held Thursday, May 2, beginning at 6 p.m. with a free meal.
Donations from Mercy Meats, through Victory Fellowship Church of Brighton, have contributed to these weekly meals.
