How will your high school experiences help you in the coming years? I will be aided because I’ve learned how to manage myself efficiently. I have also learned how to properly negotiate and debate with a level head.
Fondest memory of high school? My fondest memory was fundraising by making and selling tamales with my friends. They were being used to fund my first trip out of state to compete nationally for BPA.
Which teachers have had the biggest impact on you and why? Theresa Putnam-Genz has helped me realize my future is what I want it to be, to not let other expectations hold me back or push me down a different path.
Who is your role model and how did they influence you? My role model is my uncle Bill Schwab, who went to CCHS just like me, and paved his way academically to make it into Harvard Law School. Despite his lack of resources and preparation for higher post-secondary education, he beat the odds and showed there is hope, and I can achieve things beyond my belief through determination and grit.
What is special about your high school? My high school is tiny, and extremely diverse for its location and size. But it is very eye-opening and allows for all kinds of different kids to come together and gain a better understanding of one another.
If you could go back to when you were a freshman, what advice would you give yourself? I would tell myself to stop being so afraid of confrontation, and to put myself out there. No one is judging, like you think, and if they are? Who cares! Be yourself, make friends and don’t let others hold you back.
