The Washington County Extension Office held a Bubble Mania Day Camp on July 1 at Marr Park and July 2 at Kalona City Park. Both days contained the same fun and excitement. Around 40 kindergarten and first graders attended the camp.
The campers enjoyed a day full of bubble activities. All participants experimented with different types of soaps and learned what ingredients are needed to make bubbles. They also made their own bubble makers and bubble wrap paintings and joined in a bubble gum chewing contest. They learned about surface tension and how chemical reactions create bubbles. The highlight of the day occurred when each camper became surrounded in a life-size bubble.
