?Build a Better World? at Richland library?s summer reading program

RICHALND ? Kids can ?Build a Better World? at the Richland Public Library as they celebrate reading, learning and fun through the summer reading program ?Build a Better World.?
Programs, story times, reading challenges and fun for all ages is planned.
Families can register for the summer reading programs starting June 1.
Children?s programs will be on Tuesdays in June and July. Programs will all start at 3 p.m.
Children are invited to ?build a better experiment? with Absolute Science June 6 at Mother Cabrini Hall.
June 13, Melody Anderson will present a story time filled with fun, games, stories and a focus on arts and crafts.
June 20, the Blank Park Zoo will showcase live animals in the library?s meeting room.
June 27, Amanda Atkinson will present a program featuring stories, food, games and crafts from Mexico.
July 11, Anderson will return with more stories, games, arts and crafts.
July 18, Jefferson County Naturalist Therese Cummiskey will present a program on owls.
In addition to the Tuesday programs, children can improve their reading skills over the summer by participating in a reading challenge.
For every hour a child reads or is read to, they can earn ?Library Dollars? to buy prizes from the ?Library Store.? If they complete their reading log of 10 hours they will receive coupons from local business and Blank Park Zoo, a free book to take home and a certificate of completion.
The children?s programs are free and open to all children going into grades K-5 and their caretakers. Younger children can attend if accompanied by an adult caretaker.
