Carl A. Nelson & Company, a 106-year-old design-build, construction management and general contracting firm based in Burlington, presented its 2019 field leadership and salaried employee of the year awards Dec. 21 during the company's annual Christmas party.
Both awards are based on nominations from co-workers, and were presented by CANCO President Tim Seibert, P.E.
Receiving the Bob Harris Field Leadership Award was Raleigh Annis, of Cantril, who was promoted in 2019 to the position of field foreman. Joining Seibert to present the award were Superintendent Randy Harris and Project Manager Ryan Harris, the sons of Superintendent Bob Harris, who worked at CANCO for 39 years and was son-in-law of Clarence Alter, a member of founder
Carl A. Nelson's original team.
The 26th annual award, newly named for Bob Harris in 2019, is presented in recognition of leadership in the field by an hourly employee. Annis was described by those who nominated him as 'very reliable and dependable,” 'very proactive when it comes to self-development,” and as someone who 'always treated the customer with respect.”
'He probably doesn't even know what the company mission statement says and still lives it every day,” one nomination said.
