Cardinal Community School District will present ‘12 Incompetent Jurors’ on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10, and student tickets are $6.
Based on 12 Angry Men, this hilarious story is about a man who is accused of stealing cats. The man is clearly guilty, and I mean CLEARLY guilty, yet one juror tries to sway the others to vote not guilty. Will she be able to convince them that the cat burglar is innocent? The cast and crew, ranging from 7th to 12th grade, have been working hard, and this is sure to bring some laughs!
Karley O’Leary plays the foreman, an overly eager to please, energetic character who takes improv classes at the Y. Lydia Bride is Juror 2, who is nervous, prone to anxiety attacks, and terrible and making arguments. Juror 3, a sensible everyday woman, is played by Macyn Craig. Juror 4, played by Ariana Parker, is a bratty teenager who is always texting and easily annoyed. Juror 5, Nicholas Henry, and Juror 6, Jordan Clark, are a bickering Italian couple. They are loud and argumentative, but gosh darn it if they don’t love each other. Juror 7 is played by Emma Elder. Sweet but lonely, 7 is unemployed and lives with her grandmother. Donna Noe plays Juror 8, a wannabe lawyer who is persuasive and self-righteous. Ryker Morrison plays the voice of Donald Pleats as well as Juror Number 9, the creepy French fry guy. Cash Cooper plays Juror 10, who is angry at almost everyone. 10 has definite rage issues. Number 11, a fast talker in PR, is played by Leah Mura. Addi Hobbs plays Juror 12, an emigrant from Europe who has trouble expressing ideas and a love for Sam Waterston.
Lyla Kirby is the voice of the judge, and Kayleigh Raber is the voice of Shelly, a mild-mannered wife. Daena Peterman and John Calahan are co-directors. You can also hear John as the voice of Brad, a mild-mannered husband. Nayeli Garcia-Tapetillo is the stage manager, and the rest of the crew are Addi Kahl, Abigail Canny, Kenna Ware, Khloe Heckethorn, and Wyatt Rupe.
Two seniors that should be highlighted are Nayeli Garcia-Tapetillo and Cash Cooper. While there are four seniors in the stage crew, Nayeli is returning as the head stage crew manager for her 4th Cardinal production. She works extremely hard to make sure everything behind the scenes runs smoothly. Nayeli helps control our stage lights, sound effects, and anything else that is needed. She does a great job of making sure her stage crew works together to ensure a successful show.
Cash Cooper is the only senior in the cast this year, and this is his 5th Cardinal production. He plays Juror 10, who definitely has some rage built up and dislikes most people. Cash has previously been The Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz, Grimm in Dracula, Uncle Phil, Jamie the mechanic, and Joe Hoefingers in Leaving Iowa, and Max in The Play That Goes Wrong. He played his first role, The Cowardly Lion, while he was in 8th grade. He hopes to bring some laughs and cheer to his final high school production.
