OTTUMWA ? Milestones Area Agency on Aging will feature a guest speaker at the next Caring for the Caregiver support group meeting.
Lorie Davis, a registered nurse from the Treatment Options Program at Fresenius Medical Care, will cover preventing and living with kidney disease, knowing about the symptoms and exploring home and treatment center dialysis.
The program will be presented twice. Caregivers can attend either 5-7 p.m. Tuesday or 9-11 a.m. March 10. Both meetings will be at the Ottumwa Regional Hospital, Conference Room D, in Ottumwa.
?With one in four people taking on additional family caregiver responsibilities, there definitely is a need for information and referrals that will assist individuals caring for aging family and friends,? said Joan Nydle, family caregiver specialist.
The support group offers conversation, education and support.
The meetings are free and refreshments will be served.
Milestones Area Agency on Aging serves Appanoose, Clinton, Davis, Des Moines, Henry, Jefferson, Keokuk, Lee, Louisa, Lucas, Mahaska, Monroe, Muscatine, Scott, Van Buren, Wapello and Wayne counties in Iowa.
