The Carnegie Museum Lecture Series continues with a program on the Underground Railroad of Jefferson County at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9. Come learn about Fairfield's role in the Underground Railroad and the secret routes and safe houses that helped African American slaves escape to freedom in the early to mid 1800s.
Archeologist Stan Plum will talk about the key players in the local organization and about the current work being done with the National Park Service to acknowledge Fairfield's role in the Network of Freedom. To accommodate the larger numbers expected this program will take place in the meeting room at the Fairfield Public Library on 104 W. Adams St.
