Robert Jack Carter, son of John and Kim Carter, has been selected by the American Legion Leon Beatty Post 29, of Washington, as a delegate for the Hawkeye Boys State 2016 held June 12 - 17, at Camp Dodge in Des Moines.
American Legion Hawkeye Boys State is a week long hands-on experience in the operation of democratic form of government, the organization of political parties and the relationship of one to the other in shaping Iowa government.
Through the American Legion Hawkeye Boys State objective of "learning by doing," young men will learn more about city, county and state government in one week than they would in an entire semester of high school.
