About 40 people, including one newcomer, from Brighton, Fairfield, Wayland, Olds and Washington enjoyed a Christmas celebration as part of Celebrate Recovery Brighton at the Brighton Community Church Dec. 17. The evening included a turkey dinner, extended praise and worship music and group prayer time, and a testimonial from Lori, who had endured many abusive situations amidst an addiction to chasing love and relationships.
There was also an opportunity for gender-specific optional individual sharing. Childcare for seven youngsters was provided.
Attendees were invited to select toys for their children and grandchildren from a variety of donations courtesy of Dollar General in Brighton, and CR Brighton gifted each one with a turkey and frozen meats to take home.
The next weekly Celebrate Recovery meeting will be held on Thursday, Dec. 31 at the Brighton Community Church beginning at 6 PM. Contributions for any weekly meal can be made by contacting Sharon at smwagner123@gmail.com.
There will be no structured Celebrate Recovery Brighton meeting on Christmas Eve (next Thursday, Dec. 24) and all would-be participants are encouraged to attend Christmas Eve services at their home church or as a guest at the CR host church (Brighton Community) or sponsor church (Hope Lutheran).
CR Brighton Ministry Leaders are pleased to continue offering this increasingly important service to area communities while requesting that attendees follow health protocols.
