Over thirty people from Brighton, Fairfield, Wayland, Olds and Washington, including one newcomer, met at the Brighton Community Church Oct. 1. The evening included praise and worship music and a lesson on the importance of maintaining an attitude of gratitude in recovery from hurts, habits and hangups.
There was also an opportunity for gender-specific optional individual sharing, including two women's sharing groups, one for those struggling with chemical dependencies, and one for all other hurts, habits or hangups.
There were age-appropriate activities for eight children at the Brighton Church of God Gym. The evening began with a shared meal. Contributions for the next meal can be made by contacting Sharon at smwagner123@gmail.com.
CR Brighton will soon be beginning another women's 'Step Study” (a personal journey through the 12 Steps of Recovery and their related Biblical Scriptures) in a small confidential group held another time throughout the week and led by a facilitator who has completed a study.
The next weekly Celebrate Recovery meeting will be held on Thursday, Oct. 8 at the Brighton Community Church at 6 p.m.
