Approximately 35 people from Brighton, Fairfield, Wayland, Olds and Washington met at the Brighton Community Church Oct. 22. The evening included praise and worship music and a testimonial by a man, once a prestigious doctor, who struggled with addiction to Opioids and people pleasing. After hitting rock bottom and losing his medical license, he committed his life to Christ and experienced, in healing through Celebrate Recovery, a call to ministry.
There was also an opportunity for gender-specific optional individual sharing, including two women's sharing groups, one for those struggling with chemical dependencies, and one for all other hurts, habits or hangups.
There were age-appropriate activities for eight children at the Brighton Church of God Gym and childcare for one youngster was provided. The evening began with a shared meal. Contributions for the next meal can be made by contacting Sharon at smwagner123@gmail.com.
The next weekly Celebrate Recovery meeting will be held on Thursday, Oct. 29 at the Brighton Community Church at 6 p.m.
