Over 35 people, including three newcomers, from Brighton, Fairfield, Wayland, Olds and Washington met at the Brighton Community Church Oct. 29. The evening included praise & worship music and a lesson on how the pain of one's recovery can be recycled in service of others to show them how they can accept Jesus' healing and come through the darkness of pain into Christ's glorious freedom and light. Being Celebrate Recovery 'accountability partners” and 'sponsors” is a great opportunity to say YES to God in this way.
Two progress 'chips” were awarded, one for 18 months of sobriety and the other for nine years. There was also an opportunity for gender-specific optional individual sharing, including two women's sharing groups, one for those struggling with chemical dependencies, and one for all other hurts, habits or hangups.
There were age-appropriate activities for eight youth at the Brighton Church of God Gym and childcare was provided for one child under the age of 5. The evening began with a shared meal. Contributions for the next meal can be made by contacting Sharon at smwagner123@gmail.com.
The next weekly Celebrate Recovery meeting will be held on Thursday, Nov. 5 at the Brighton Community Church at 6 p.m.
