Thirty-five people, including three newcomers, from Brighton, Fairfield, Olds and Washington, followed social distancing guidelines meeting for Celebrate Recovery Brighton at the Brighton Community Church Dec. 10. The evening included praise and worship music, and a lesson on the importance of admitting our powerlessness to overcome our hurts, habits and hang-ups on our own.
In addition, progress ‘chips' were awarded, to mark various stages of recovery from a variety of hurts, habits and hangups. There was also an opportunity for gender-specific optional individual sharing, including two women's sharing groups, one for those struggling with chemical dependencies, and one for all other hurts, habits or hangups. Also, five children participated in the Celebration Place ministry at the Brighton Church of God Gym, and childcare for two youngsters was provided.
The evening began with a shared meal. Contributions for the next meal can be made by contacting Sharon at smwagner123@gmail.com.
The next weekly Celebrate Recovery meeting will be held on Thursday, Dec. 17 at the Brighton Community Church beginning at 6 p.m. and will include a Christmas celebration.
CR Brighton Ministry Leaders are pleased to continue offering this increasingly important service to area communities while following health protocols.
