Thirty people from Brighton, Fairfield, Wayland, Olds, Washington and Birmingham, including one newcomer, met at the Brighton Community Church Aug. 27 for Celebrate Recovery. The evening included live praise and worship music from the local CR group band, and a live testimonial by Zach from Burlington, who, after several prison terms and struggles with drug addiction and gang activity, found recovery and 'a relationship with his Savior” through Celebrate Recovery.
There was also an opportunity for gender-specific optional individual sharing, including two women's sharing groups, one for those struggling with chemical dependencies, and one for all other hurts, habits or hangups.
Childcare was provided for five children and the evening began with a meal. The meal contribution sign up system is now being managed by a volunteer through email. Those interested may contact Sharon at smwagner123@gmail.com to help provide meal items.
The next weekly Celebrate Recovery meeting will be Thursday, Sept. 3 at the Brighton Community Church at 6 p.m.
