Challenge grants through Main Street Iowa now open

Main Street Washington is proud to announce that the next round of Challenge Grants through Main Street Iowa is now open. The Challenge Grants is a competitive grant available only to Main Street communities in Iowa. One application from each community may be submitted annually to compete from dollar for dollar matching grants from $15,000 to $75,000. Main Street Washington has received three of these grants, totaling $150,000 awarded, on behalf of three buildings in downtown since 2008.

These buildings include the Triune Building, the former Bodywrx Fitness Center, and the Night Suites above Café Dodici. Building owners interested in applying for the next round of Challenge Grants should notify Sarah Grunewaldt at Main Street Washington 319-653-3918 as well as sign up for an educational webinar taking place 2 p.m., Monday, July 11, to review the grant application process.

Applications will be due to Main Street Washington by Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016 and the Main Street Board of Directors will approve one application for submittal at their September board meeting. Sarah Grunewaldt will help the building owners polish their application for submittal to Main Street Iowa before the Sept. 29, 2016, deadline.
